Meta tags can also be used to direct Search engines on whether they should index or nonindex a page and follow or nofollow a page.

Open Graph meta tags are also important for displaying your content on social media platforms. Twitter and Facebook use Open Graph meta tags to fetch and display your post summary details on social media.

For example, a blog post without Open Graph meta tags will not display a post featured image if shared on Facebook or it will display an image that is not related to the post.
