
SnapShooter one of the best web applications for automating server backups to the cloud has been acquired by DigitalOcean. It is interesting to note that SnapShooter started in 2017 primarily as a DigitalOcean backup service provider before it expanded to other clouding hosting providers.
SnapShooter Acquisition by DigitaOcean
In a statement shared on January 11, 2023, DigitalOcean announced that it had acquired SnapShooter for an undisclosed amount. Speaking about the acquisition Snapshooter CEO Simon Bennett indicated that he will continue to work on SnapShooter for the foreseeable future.
SnapShooter growth strategy
Since its establishment in 2017, SnapShooter has had steady growth as an easy-to-use backup and recovery service provider. It simplified server, databases, and applications backup processes which were meant for DevOps with server experience to a one-click process.
Some of the established cloud solutions it supported include DigitalOcean, Google Cloud, AWS, and Vultr.
Snapshooter remains as an independent web app but it is also available on the DigitalOcean marketplace to be installed as an add-on.
