
Discourse forum software has indicated that it is experiencing errors caused by problems at its data center. The root website displays 504 errors due to the said problem. Customers using Discourse hosting are also affected.
Discourse 504 error issue
Early Monday (17th January 2022), discourse announced on its status page that it was experiencing global website loading issues affecting its Standard Hosting, Teams Standard Hosting, Business Hosting, Enterprise Hosting, and Teams Enterprise Hosting.
The major cause of the problem as indicated by Discourse was, “the hosting provider is reporting a fire/explosion in the vicinity of the datacenter has caused the outage”.
The exact error that was being experienced at discourse.org was “504 ERROR. The request could not be satisfied.”
The error originated from CloudFront CDN that discourse uses.
Discourse says that it is working with its hosting partner to address the problem. We will update this post with more information and progress.
UPDATE (18/01/2022): Discourse data center issue has been resolved. All services are now fully operational.
