Google has announced that is introducing a new feature called “About this image” as it seeks to combat misinformation and enhance credibility.
Google Images'”About this image”
The “About this image” is a feature that makes it possible to identify the original creator of the image. The feature will initially be available in English in the United States. Users searching for images on Google will be able to discover when the image was first indexed, the websites where the image appeared, and the original sources of the image.
To access the feature, Go to Google Images and search for any image, then click on the three dots on the top right side of the image and thereafter click on the “About this image” link. You will be able to see all similar images, where and when they appeared.

AI-generated image Google markup
In addition to the “About this image” feature, Google is also rolling out a markup for AI-generated images. AI-generated images will have a markup showing that the Image was AI-generated. Creators or publishers will be able to add the markup that will appear on Google Image search as “Image self-labeled as AI-generated“. All images generated with Google AI tools like Bard will be labeled as “AI-generated with Google“
