Hootsuite, one of the best social media management platforms has stopped offering the free plan that was used by a number of users for social media automation
Hootsuite Fee Plan End
Hootsuite free plan is going away on March 31, 2023. All free Hootsuite accounts will have to upgrade to paid plans (the cheapest starts at $99/month). Free accounts that will not have upgraded to available professional plans by Match 31 will be restricted. Initially, Hootshute’s free plan had limited features but with restrictions, you will not be able to use Hootsuite for creating, scheduling, and publishing to your social media platforms.
Hootsuite has been going through financial restructuring geared towards improving performance and growth. In August 2022, Hootsuite laid off 30% of its workforce. In January 2023, it increased prices by over 100% and now it has retired the free plan.
In these uncertain economic times, many businesses have been restructuring their finances to improve profits. Google, Meta, Amazon, etc laid off thousands of employees. Twitter discontinued free access to its API while Mailchimp scaled down free plan features.
Hootsuite Alternatives
If you are among the many businesses or users who have been lucky to use Hootsuite for free for many years, and now the changes have hit you, then you might want to consider affordable alternatives like Buffer ($6/month) or MeetEdgar (29.99/month).
