Most popular domain extensions of the year by sales
On April 6, 2023, Afternic (a Godaddy company and domain marketplace with over 5 million domains available for sale) published information on the most popular domain extension of the year by volume sales.
Information shared by Afternic reveals that the .com domain extension still maintains its number one position as the most in-demand TLD. Surprisingly, the .org domain extension takes the second position while the .net takes the third position. The .org domain extension has mostly been used by non-profit organizations and communities. However, these days .org extension is considered a good option when .com is not available. The .xyz TLD which does not have a good reputation among website administrators and owners is the fifth most popular domain extension in volume sales.
