Bringing page experience reports to desktop means that Google is determined to use core web vital metrics among other factors for desktop rankings.
Some of the things that Google considers when measuring page experience include;
- Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): page loading experience
- First Input Delay (FID): good first impression
- Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): Unexpected movement or change of a page layout
- HTTPS security
- Popup ads that block the entire page causing bad user experience
It should however be noted that mobile-friendliness or responsiveness is a factor for mobile ranking only.
Web developers should put these factors into consideration when developing their client’s websites, themes, or templates in order to improve page rankings.
