Patreon has announced that it will be removing the goals feature. Creators affected by the removal of the feature have expressed their disappointment with how tech companies disable features they love instead of making them optional.
Patreon Goals Feature
Starting May 16, 2023, Patreon’s goals feature will not be available. All Patreons who currently have the goals feature enabled have up to May 16 to access the data.
The Patreon goals feature was used by creators to improve their earnings by letting Patrons support them achieve specific milestones. It was more like the Kickstarter funding goals feature. Patrons were particularly excited with the feature because they could support their favorite creators achieve their goals and know what was coming next.
Patreon introduced the goals feature to help creators grow their patrons and improve engagement. However, it decided to remove it because it was not adding much value to most creators.
Patreon said that of the 75% of the creators who were using the goals feature, only 4.5% of the creators with active goals were gaining more patrons.
