Many Pinterest users have lately been complaining on social media that they cannot comment on pins and notifications have disappeared.
Why Pinterest Comments are turned off?
Pinterest comments can be turned off because of a number of reasons. The most common ones are age verification, system glitches, use of filtered words, and violation of terms.
Pinterest has recently been cracking down on accounts due to a rise in the number of children images being shared illegally. A week ago, it disabled showing search results with the term “girls”. If the system suspects that your account is being used to circumvent terms of use, most Pinterest features like email notifications, feeds, search, following people, messaging, and creating boards or pins in your account will be disabled or blocked.
If your account has not been restricted, then you can self-troubleshoot the comments issues using the solutions provided below.
How to fix Pinterest comments problems
Comments Disappearing
If the problem you are facing is comments disappearing once you type and click enter, then it is likely that the Pin Creator has filtered words you can use to comment. To confirm whether this is the cause of the problem, use different words to comment or comment on another pin.
To add comment filters in Pinterest go to settings > Social Permissions > under comments, enable filter comments on pins, and add words that you don’t want to appear in your pin’s comments.
Comments Turned Off
If people cannot comment on your pins but you can comment on others, then it can be that Pinterest automatically turned off comments on your pin.
To check and enable commenting, open a pin that you created > click the three dots, and then click allow comments button to allow or disallow. As of publishing this article, there is no way to disable commenting for all pins, you have to do it per pin.

Age verification
To protect its users, Pinterest has started restricting some features for users who are below 18 years. Make sure that you have added your birth date to have all the features enabled in your account.
System glitches
Clear your browser cache and cookies. Also, try changing your browser or restarting your computer
Generally, Pinterest always has some system glitches. If something does not work now, you can always try later and it will work without any fixes.
