Pinterest is now blocking search results for terms like girls and boys as it tries to combat the growing number of spam and unsafe content targeting such keywords.
Pinterest Search Term Blocking
A search for ideas or images that have keywords girls, boys, teens, etc returns “Sorry, we couldn’t find any Pins for this search”. For example, if you search for “girls locks“, “girls outfits” or “baby girls fashion”, you will not get any results. Many users on social media have reported receiving the error. We have however noted that the boys search term is not widely restricted like girls. For instance, unlike girls, if you search for “boys outfits”, you will get search results.

Over the past few days, Pinterest has been cracking down on boards and accounts that upload illegal content. Affected accounts have either been deactivated, comments disabled, messages turned off, or follow button removed.
Why Pinterest is blocking the search terms
It has been reported that for now, Pinterest has banned media files with girls and other keywords from appearing in search results because it was discovered that searching for the term girls or boys was showing results of images of young girls and boys.
Pinterest has taken the move to protect children, however, banning the term girls from search results means that mums cannot use Pinterest to search for ideas related to their girls. For instance, girls hairstyle ideas.
Pinterest has not issued an official statement on when they expect to fix the issue.
