WooCommerce has announced that it will introduce the product filtering by attributes feature in WooCommerce version 6.3
WooCommerce product filtering by attributes
Product filtering by attribute will be available to all WooCommerce 6.3 installations. Once you update your WooCommerce version to 6.3, a new product attributes database table will be created.
In order to see the product filtering by attributes option in WooCommerce, you must update your WooCommerce database by clicking on the database update notice in your admin dashboard.
Enabling product filtering by attributes
After the WooCommerce database update has been completed, you can enable product filtering by attributes by following the procedure below.
- Go to WooCommrce
- Click on Settings
- Go to Products
- Under products, click Advanced
- Under Products attributes look up table, click enable table usage checkbox
- Also enable direct updates
The importance of the feature is that helps in filtering variable products in WooCommerce. Before the update, filtering variable products in WooCommerce was a problem. For example, if you are selling a t-shirt that is gray and black, and the black t-shirt is out of stock and someone selects it, it will still be included in the list despite it being out of stock. Enabling product filtering by attributes sorts out the problem.
